The Manhattan Group International. Engineering credibility, rendered.

The Manhattan Group International is an international construction and environmental services firm delivering wastewater treatment, waste-to-energy, remediation, and large-scale construction across seventeen countries. Also, the brief was direct: a website that carries the weight of four hundred years of combined leadership experience and four thousand delivery orders, engineered to rank and to withstand scrutiny from federal clients. You can view the finished site at themanhattangroupinternational.org.

The client

A federal scale environmental practice.

MGI operates at a level where credibility is everything. Their leadership has directed more than four thousand federal, state, and private sector delivery orders across the United States and its Territories, with regulatory expertise spanning CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, OPA, and DOT frameworks. Their scientists hold decades of specialization in bioremediation, hazardous waste, and emerging waste-to-energy technology.

A firm of that stature cannot present itself with a generic template. The website had to communicate technical depth, an international footprint, and a proprietary body of work, all while remaining fast, accessible, and legible to search engines evaluating an unfamiliar entity in a specialized field.

400+ years

Combined leadership experience across environmental, water, and energy engineering.

17 countries

Remediation and water systems delivered across four continents.

4,000+ orders

Federal, state, and private sector delivery orders executed and completed.

Start the same way every client here did.

The audit maps your market, documents your baseline, and names the fixes worth doing first. It is free, it takes four fields, and the findings are yours whether or not a program follows.

The build

Design that matches the engineering.

We designed and built the complete site: an animated, technically dense presentation that walks visitors from the firm’s scope through its proprietary technologies to its named leadership and verifiable proof. The visual language is serious and precise, built to hold the attention of a government procurement officer rather than to chase trends.

Every design decision served a second purpose. The structure that makes the site readable to a human, clear hubs, a logical progression, named entities, is the same structure that makes it legible to a search engine. Nothing was styled at the expense of being crawlable, and nothing was optimized at the expense of looking as accomplished as the firm behind it.

The search layer

Making specialized authority legible.

Ranking a firm in a technical niche is an entity problem before it is a keyword problem. A search engine has to understand what MGI is, what it does, and why its claims are credible. We built that understanding in: a complete schema graph declaring the organization and its services, a site architecture that groups the work into clear topical areas, and content that states the firm’s record in verifiable figures rather than adjectives.

The firm’s proof points, the documented biogas yield increase from independent university trials, the seventeen countries of remediation work, the four thousand delivery orders, were structured as evidence a search engine and a generative answer engine could extract and attribute. Authority that can be parsed is authority that can rank.

Complete schema graph

Organization, services, and page level Google’s structured data documentation present from launch.

Entity clarity

Named leadership, credentials, and regulatory expertise made machine readable.

Proof as data

Measurable results structured for extraction rather than buried in prose.

Straight answers

Who built the Manhattan Group International website?

The website for The Manhattan Group International was designed and built by the team behind Uncharted SEO, founded by Andreas Benavente. The engagement covered the full custom site design, the build, and the search architecture, and the firm credits the work in its own site footer.

What made the MGI project challenging?

MGI operates in a specialized technical field where a search engine has little context to judge credibility. The challenge was twofold: designing a site that visually matches a federal scale engineering practice, and structuring its authority, credentials, regulatory expertise, and measurable results. So that search and answer engine optimization services could understand and trust an unfamiliar entity.

What did the engagement include?

Full custom website design, the complete build, and the search architecture: information architecture, a complete schema graph, entity optimization for the firm and its leadership, and content structured for extraction. Design and SEO were decided together rather than handed off in sequence, which is why the site ranks and presents as a single coherent piece of work.

Can you do this for a firm in another technical field?

Yes. Also, the core of the MGI project, making specialized authority legible to search engines through structure and structured data, applies to any firm whose credibility is hard for an algorithm to assess. Engineering, legal, medical, and scientific practices all share the same underlying challenge and the same solution.

The approach

How the MGI site we built to rank

  1. Understand the practice

Map what MGI does across environmental, water, and energy work, and identify the credentials and proof points that establish credibility in a technical field.

  2. Architect for authority

Group the firm’s scope, technologies, leadership, and proof into a clear structure that both a procurement officer and a search engine can follow without guessing.

  3. Design the presentation

Build a custom, animated site whose seriousness matches the engineering, with every visual decision preserving speed and crawlability.

  4. Structure the credibility

Declare the organization, its services, and its leadership in a complete schema graph, and render measurable results as extractable data rather than buried claims.

  5. Launch and verify

Ship with structured data in place, submit the Google’s sitemap documentation, confirm indexing, and establish the baseline the firm’s visibility answers to.

Terms from this project

Entity optimization
Making an organization unambiguously identifiable to search engines through consistent naming, structured data, and corroborating detail. Central to ranking a firm in a specialized field. Also called: brand entity work, knowledge graph optimization, brand entity work
Schema graph
The connected set of structured data nodes on a site declaring the organization, its services, and its pages and how they relate. Present across the MGI site. Also called: structured data graph, JSON-LD graph
CERCLA
The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, a core federal framework in environmental remediation and part of MGI’s stated regulatory expertise. Also called: Superfund, environmental liability law
Waste-to-energy
Converting organic and municipal waste into usable energy, one of MGI’s proprietary technology areas, including biogas digesters and plasma systems. Also called: biomass energy, energy recovery, biogas
Extraction ready content
Content structured so that search and answer engines can lift a complete, attributable statement, used to make MGI’s proof points citable. Also called: answer ready content, AEO content
Custom build
A site designed and developed from the client’s actual requirements rather than adapted from a template, as with the fully bespoke MGI site. Also called: bespoke website, custom web design
The committee

Designing for people you will never meet.

Institutional decisions are made by groups, and the group members who matter most are often the ones who never contact you. The researcher who builds the shortlist. The skeptic assigned to find problems. The signer who needs risk retired before approving anything.

Each needs something different from the same site. Also, the researcher needs to find you and understand the category. The skeptic needs specifics that survive checking. As a result, the signer needs credibility signals and evidence of stability. A site written for a single generic visitor serves none of them well.

The most underrated asset in this context is the forwardable page: a single URL that states the case cleanly enough to survive being read at speed by somebody skeptical. Building deliberately for that reader shortens cycles more reliably than anything on the homepage.

Weight discipline

Making ambitious design load fast.

Visually ambitious sites are usually slow, and the slowness is almost never necessary. It comes from ambition being added on top of a build rather than engineered into it: video encoded without regard for delivery, imagery uploaded at source resolution, effects layered until the phone gives up.

The discipline is to set the budget first. Decide what the page may weigh and how fast it must render before any design decision is made, then design inside that. Constraints of this kind improve design rather than limiting it, because they force choices that would otherwise be avoided.

Encoding, sizing, lazy loading, and restraint about effects do most of the work. None of it is exotic. It simply has to happen before launch rather than being discovered afterward when the site is already slow and the fix is expensive.

Credibility as structure

The trust layer institutional buyers actually read.

Beyond the visual layer sits the substance institutional buyers check: who the organization is, who runs it, what it has actually done, and whether the facts agree across every source they can find.

That is an architecture problem as much as a content one. Real named people with real roles. Capability stated precisely rather than gestured at. Entity facts consistent between the site, every profile, and every directory. That is because contradictions read as risk exactly when risk is being assessed.

It is also what makes an organization legible to AI systems now assembling shortlists. A business a machine can resolve confidently is a business it will name. Ambiguity produces omission rather than a bad mention, which is harder to notice and harder to fix.

Straight answers

How do you design for a business selling to institutional buyers?

By building for a committee rather than an individual. Institutional buying involves several people with different concerns, most of whom will never speak to you before a decision is shaped. Pages have to survive being forwarded, read cold, and evaluated by somebody looking for a reason to say no.

Straight answers

Does visual ambition conflict with performance?

Only when it is added rather than engineered. Ambitious visual work has a weight cost, and the cost is paid by the visitor on a phone. Setting a performance budget before design begins turns that from a discovery made at launch into a constraint the design is built inside, which is where it belongs.

The method

How every engagement here starts.

The free audit comes first, before any proposal exists. It documents current visibility, maps what buyers in the category actually search, and records a baseline that every later claim has to answer to. The findings belong to the client whether or not anything follows.

Then the architecture. The page list is a strategy decision wearing a design costume, and it gets settled from evidence rather than from a template. Nothing is designed or written until the map says it should exist, which is what prevents the expensive rebuild eighteen months later.

Then the build, the content, and a launch gated by a checklist rather than a date. URL inventory, redirects where anything moved, index verification, and the baseline recorded before the growth work begins. Afterward, the published plans at 100 and 250 dollars per month, billed monthly or annually.

Evidence

What you can verify about this project right now.

The client site is linked from this page. Open it. Test how fast it loads on your phone rather than on a desktop connection. That is because that is the condition most visitors arrive in. Look at whether the pages answer questions or perform at you.

Then search something a customer of that business would genuinely type, in the market they serve, and see what appears. That single check tells you more about whether the work functions than any description on this page could.

Then read this page again and see whether what it claims matches what you found. If it does not, that is worth knowing, and the contact details are on this site. A portfolio that invites checking is the only kind worth publishing.

Transfer

What this transfers to a different business.

The industry specifics on this page will not match yours. The structure underneath almost certainly will. That is because the problems it solves are structural rather than sectoral: demand that is invisible without mapping, pages competing against each other, markets covered by templates instead of substance, and launches that discard earned equity.

Those failures show up in a dental practice and a title company alike. So does the fix, which is why the same method runs across every project on this roster despite the sectors having nothing in common.

The free audit is where that gets tested against your situation specifically. Also, it maps your demand, documents your baseline, and says plainly whether a program is worth it yet. Sometimes the honest answer is not yet, and the audit says so.

The standard

What this page does not claim.

No traffic multiple, no ranking guarantee, and no revenue figure appears anywhere on this page. Not because the work did not matter. But because none of those numbers would be checkable by you, and an unverifiable number is decoration rather than evidence.

What this page does claim is what we built, how it we built, and why the architecture was chosen. Also, every one of those statements can be verified by opening the client’s site and looking. That is a deliberately lower ceiling on persuasion and a deliberately higher floor on honesty.

The proof page sets out the full evidence standard this practice holds itself to, including the citation panel that publishes quiet months alongside good ones. Judge this portfolio by that standard, and hold every other agency’s portfolio to it as well.

Questions

More about the Manhattan Group International project.

Is the Manhattan Group International site live?

Yes. Also, the site is live at themanhattangroupinternational.org and can be viewed directly. The firm credits the design and build in its own footer.

Did Uncharted handle both design and SEO for MGI?

Yes. Also, the engagement was integrated: full custom design, the complete build, and the search architecture were delivered together. Building the search structure and the design in parallel is why the site both presents and ranks as a coherent whole.

What is distinctive about the MGI website?

It is a fully custom, animated presentation of a technically complex environmental engineering practice, designed to match the firm’s federal scale credibility while remaining fast, accessible, and legible to search engines evaluating a specialized entity.

Can this approach work for my engineering or scientific firm?

Yes. The central task, making specialized authority understandable and trustworthy to a search engine through structure and structured data, applies to any technical practice whose credibility is difficult for an algorithm to assess on its own.

How do I start a project like this?

Every engagement begins with an audit to establish a baseline and define scope. From there the tier is set against the work the site requires. For a custom build in a technical field, that audit is the same first step MGI began with.

Why does a B2B site need a strong visual identity at all?

Because institutional buyers are assessing credibility long before capability, and a site is frequently the first evidence they see. Visual seriousness is not decoration in that context, it is a signal about the organization behind it. The mistake is treating it as the whole job rather than as the entry ticket.

See what the two plans include and what they cost on the pricing page.
